My neighbor is a total Karen who threatened us earlier because our dogs kept walking onto her land and pooping there. Three or four days ago, she actually followed through on her threats and killed our next-door neighbor’s dog.
Then today, my own dog died. For the past few days, she refused to eat and got incredibly skinny. She started bleeding dark, reddish-black blood. My grandma got terrified that the dog had rabies, so she let her go and freed her into the neighborhood about four or five hours ago. Just an hour ago, my grandma found her dead.
I didn't even cry at first. I just sobbed a little bit, but I am filled with extreme anger. My grandma has been crying non-stop because that dog was like a child to her. We live in Vietnam, so there is absolutely no hope for any legal justice. To make things worse, the killer has connections to a high-ranking local communist official, so she will get away with it completely.

It wasn't just about the poop. We live in a rural resettlement area ("khu tái định cư") after the communist government stole my family's land. The killer was a landowner in this specific area before they built the resettlement zone.
Her brother is a farmer, and his bike is incredibly loud. Dogs are extremely sensitive to loud sounds, so they naturally kept chasing him. Months ago, the brother started kicking the dogs and threatened to behead or kill them.
Because this is a rural area, you cannot just keep dogs locked inside all day. The community is small, and it is completely normal to let dogs roam free here. Everyone accepts it except for this Karen. On top of that, the area sits right next to a forest that used to hold houses for people who went to mandatory military service ("đi nghĩa vụ quân sự"). That same forest is exactly where my grandma found our dog dead.

Harming the karen is not an option I presume?

Harming the Karen is not an option. I cannot risk going to jail because I live with my grandma and I need to take care of her. On top of that, my ultimate goal is to escape this country entirely after she passes away.

Thanks. I'm still in too much shock to even process it. I can't even cry or feel sad right now, and I honestly don't know why.
She was a dog gifted to my grandma from a "bà con" family friend back in 2026. My grandma originally gave her to my uncle, but he couldn't care for her because of his wife and his job, so they gave her back to us. She has been cared for by me and my grandma since then.
She gave birth a lot during her life, and we always gifted the puppies to other family relatives. Just three months ago, she gave birth to four puppies. Sadly, one died because the mom dog accidentally rolled over on it while lying down to give them milk and crushed it without knowing. We gifted two of the puppies to other relatives, and only one is left. Now, we need to focus on caring for this lone puppy.

I meant to say 2020, not 2026. I am using an LLM to refine my text and it messed up the year.
